Question: How
difficult is it to add
e-commerce to this template?
& What is involved?
* Should I only purchase
templates that already have
e-commerce links in them if
I plan to go e-commerce
later?
Answer: E-commerce
is a whole different
ballgame, as how it works
depends on what tools you
use. For instance, if you
choose to use PayPal, it's a
piece of cake. You just slap
their code into your
existing pages where you
want it, make a modification
or two for the specific item
you are marketing, and
you're good to go. You can
do that with ANY template.
There are other commerce
providers having more or
less the same setup, as
well.
On the other hand, there are full-blown shopping carts, which are rather standalone, sometimes within a cgi-bin program or an asp program. Those normally have pre-built pages, which you would have to modify to have a look you want. SOME of those allow you to place code into your existing pages, but you'd have to re-situate the pages (if cgi) or save as asp (if asp-driven) to work with the coding.
And finally, there are 3rd party shopping cart systems, where the user actually is transported to the 3rd party provider's site where your "stuff" is located. In that case, obviously, you have LITTLE control over the design.
It's just not cut-and-dry, so no easy or quick answer. Bottom line? Go with what you like, then prior to deciding on a commerce package, research it to see how it fits into your existing scheme of things.
Question: I'm interested in a legal template for a law firm. I currently like some of yours, however, and would to discuss customizing it. Do you do that?
Answer: Yes, we do. In the customization process, you first license the template of choice, then we make the requested changes and send you "replacement files" for what has been changed. There are some templates in which that is not practical, so we'd need to know BEFORE you license the template which specific one you will want changed, and how. It'll be easy for us to determine if it can be done.
Depending on the changes, the charges for customization can run from $25 on up to several hundred dollars. Generally, most of our customizations fall in the $50 range, and generally, the remainder fall in the $125 range.
Turnaround time is usually within 48 hours, but you can begin work on the template you have licensed immediately, as our replacement files don't interfere with anything already done in the new web.
