Question: I have FP 2003 and Swish. If I purchase an Intro Page that I can modify with swish and a FP template. I know the FP Page program looks for the "index file" as the "home page".
My question is how would I have a Swish Intro Template "boot up" before the FP index page? Is this possible?
Reply: The issue isn't really that FrontPage looks for index.htm as the home page as much as it is that web browsers look for a page pre-designated (generally index.htm/html/asp/etc. or default.htm/html/asp/etc.) page as the "home page" when someone goes from the address bar and directly types in the domain name.
There are two ways you can handle this:
- Put your flash intro on an index.htm page all by itself, then put your website in a sub-web having its own index (home) page. This scenario assumes you don't expect people to want to revisit the intro as the "home" page when they click the "home" link.
- Put your flash intro in an index.htm page, then place your entire website beneath it in the FrontPage structure. If you don't want people to revisit it, simply do not check the "include home page" box on the right when setting link bars. This one would be my recommendation.
Also, I couldn't tell from your question if you were looking at Flash intros using Swish on our site or elsewhere; please note that our intros are not designed for editing with Swish unless specifically stated on the Details page of the preview.
